The line from Bourg en Bresse to Saint Claude was closed in August 2005 for the start of work to electrify the line to Bellegarde, but the start was delayed by 18 months due to financing problems.
The line will now re-open only in December 2009 if all goes to plan.

De ce point de vue, nous observons le TER 82504 de Lyon à St Claude qui traverse le viaduc à 13.45 avec deux X 2800's encadrant une remorque XR bleue.
The spectacular viaduct of Cize-Bolozon is located 25 km east of Bourg-en-Bresse on the line to La Cluse and Oyannax. At the eastern end of the 1. 6 km long Tunnel de Raucouze, the viaduct crosses the river Ain at a height of 52 metres( 170 ft).
It was completed in 1877and then, on 12th July 1944, was partially destroyed by the Resistance.
Six years later the viaduct was completely rebuilt as before with its two levels, for the single track railway and at a lower level, for the single roadway
Now, at the beginning of the 21st century, a further change is imminent as plans to electrify the line(partly closed at present) from Bourg to Bellegarde are ready.
In December 2009, if all goes to plan, the TGV service from Paris to Geneva, Evian and St Gervais will cross the Cize-Bolozon viaduct.
There are various positions from which to view the viaduct. Probably the best known and most satisfying is from above at a road junction on the D59. The vegetation is tending to obscure the view of the lower part of the viaduct, but on this day, March 3rd 2004, spring is still several weeks away, as the midday winter sun illuminates the train
( X 2800 + XR + XR + XR + X2800 ). This is TER 82561 from St Claude to Lyon-Perrache, crossing from right to left just before entering the tunnel of Raucouze.
Le magnifique viaduc de Cize-Bolozon se trouve à 25 km à l'est de Bourg-en-Bresse sur la ligne vers La Cluse et Oyannax. A la sortie est du tunnel de Raucouze ( 1686 m), le viaduc traverse la rivière Ain à une hauteur de 52 mètres.
Il a été ouvert en 1877 et puis, le 12 juillet 1944, la Résistance l'a partiellement détruit.
Six ans après, le viaduc a été reconstruit à l'identique avec ces deux niveaux, pour chemin de fer à voie unique et pour la route, également à voie unique.
Aujourd'hui, au début du 21é siècle, une autre changement se profile. Il est, en effet, prévu d'électrifier la ligne et d'y faire passer le TGV Paris - Genève, ainsi que des TGV's Paris-Evian et Paris-St Gervais.

On peut regarder le viaduc de plusieurs points de vue. Probablement le meilleur point se situe sur le D59.
Ce jour, le 3 mars 2004, le printemps se fait encore attendre, et c'est par un soleil d'hiver, que le TER 82561 en provenance de St Claude et à destination de Lyon-Perrache traverse le viaduc assuré par une composition X 2800 des 5 caisses. ( X 2800 + XR + XR + XR + X 2800 ).
