[ Gare de Mirecourt, Vosges - October 2006 ]
In February and March 2006, the rail site at Mirecourt was drastically altered and simplified.  All the sidings located on the west of the station were lifted.  The two signal boxes were closed, and half the mechanical signals removed.

This page shows the situation in October 2006.

October 2nd, 2006.  A TER service arrives at Mirecourt from Nancy at 13.45.  On the left, the remains  of the junction with the line to Neufchateau closed in 1990.  The rails were lifted in March 2006, the sleepers have been left lying there.
The same unit passes in front of the No 1 signal box, now out of use.  What future for this site ?
October 3rd, 2006.  The torrential rain has accentuated  the gloom of this scene of devastation. Six months after removal of the rails, leaving the sleepers in place, the site has not yet been cleaned up.
One lone surviving mechanical signal remains at the end of the island platform.
The signal box(1893) was one of the oldest remaining in operation until it was closed
in February 2006.
The semaphore continues to be operated ( from the station building ? ).
Another survivor, but for how long, this mechanical signal is still to be found next to the lycée.
The 16:15 service from Mirecourt to Contrexéville is for the schools traffic.
